Behind the Scenes Part 2

Welcome to Part 2! This is the Blooper Reel. Enjoy the crazyness!

Behind the Scenes Part 1

Hi there! This is Grace, also known as the author of this legacy. For those of you reading (I know you're there thanks to the miracle of page counts, and those of you wonderful enough to comment) I want to thank you for sticking with me through the first generation. It's been a bumpy ride on my end. I lost the Darcy file due to glitches (caused by a glitched house) three times. In the end, I rebuilt the house you see in the background of most shots myself from scratch. After that things have been much smoother game wise, though that wasn't always true in the lives of our dear Darcys.

This is a Behind the Scenes, kind of like the bonus features on a DVD. I love those, and I have a ton of screen shots of stuff that happened between when I started and the end of this last chapter that just couldn't, for one reason or another, make it into the chapters. Because I have so much, this is going to be split into two parts. Be on the look out for part two on New Year's Eve.

Generation One: Chapter 12 - Happy Ending

Chapter Twelve: Happy Ending

“And so goes the tale of St. Nicholas.” I read. Miriam was nestled beside me, listening quietly, looking intently at the book. She is too young to read yet, but she loves being read to.

Chapter 11 - Heavy Burdens

I was with Fred and the horses when I realized that everything was not as it should be.

Generation One: Chapter 10 - Crash Landing

Chapter Ten - Crash Landing
“Tell me again why you have to teach our son to ride one of your horses?” My wife asked as I rubbed the bulge that was our third child.

Generation One: Chapter 9 - Little Feet

Chapter Nine - Little Feet

Henry is in love. He’s head over heels for his little sister Ellen.

I cannot fault him, for my daughter has the whole household wrapped around her finger, me included.

He spends much of his time with her, playing games and telling her stories. It does me good to see them this way. I was never that way with Caroline. Alexandra, yes, but she never was close to us. She was cold, even as a child.

Generation One: Chapter 8 - Unexpected Enemy

“Papa! Papa!” cried a little voice as I came in the door from a long day at work. There was my precious son, Henry, toddling unsteadily towards me. Charlotte stood behind him in the entrance hall, smiling as my son tottered into my outstretched arms.

Generation One: Chapter 7 - Joyful Bundles

Chapter Seven - Joyful Bundles
The last six months have flown by. The time for my newest nephews or nieces to arrive rapidly approaches.  Both of my sisters are far gone with child, and Caroline is more than ready to welcome her firstborn. While I truly believe she is pleased to be a mother, pregnancy has not been kind to her.  Her early illness, and as she progressed her back ached fiercely. There is little that could be done for her, and it has exasperated her temper.

Generation One: Chapter 6 - Wedded Bliss

Chapter 6 - Wedded Bliss

Introducing my dear Charlotte to my family is a true joy, for the most part. Both of my brothers-in-law like her and have heartily welcomed her into the family. My sisters, as is common, had differing reactions. Alexandra liked her immediately, telling me later that she was glad I would have the same happiness she did. Caroline was in true form, and icy towards my fiancée from the outset. This upset me initially, but Charlotte was quick to reassure me that she understood and was not troubled.  How in the world had I been blessed with such a woman!Perhaps some of Caroline’s rudeness stems from recent sickness. She has been unable to keep anything down of late and often cannot abide by the food served at meals and is not eating with us. I worry about her even after the pain she has caused me before. I will always love my sister.

Generation One: Chapter 5 - Hope Realized

Chapter Five: Hope Realized

My name is Charlotte Dubois. I once fell in love with a man I could never have, and now that there may be hope at last I cannot find the words to seek either a confirmation or a denial.

A few months ago Charles Darcy wrote to me, telling me of his sister’s agreement to choose his own bride. He did not propose in his letter, and I cannot help but wonder if his feelings have changed.
When we parted that painful day, we agreed to write frequently as friends. In this way I know of his brush with tragedy and all that followed in its wake. We have not conversed again about our feelings for each other. My feelings have not lessened, only grown stronger. But I do not know if the same is true for him. If his are gone, then if I ask I will seem foolish. But if I do not ask will we ever have a chance?

I am loath to risk my heart again. When I told him of my love for him, it took all the courage I possessed and now I am too afraid to risk again. So I will be guarded with my tender heart.

Generation One: Chapter 4 - Uncertain Future

Holding the tiny form of my nephew Alexander only makes the ache in my chest sharper. I long for children of my own. I begin to fear I never will be blessed with them. There is only one woman whom I can see as the mother of those children, and I have not spoken with her in over a year, and there was no understanding between us when I saw her last. For all I know she could be married to another and I nothing but a memory.

Generation One: Chapter 3 - Fragile Hope

Chapter 3 - Fragile Hope

Six months have passed in the time of grief, and now Caroline has become Mrs. Davenpore. Alfred’s will has been changed, arrangements made and perhaps Caroline will be content. Because it is a wedding, Caroline and Alfred wear white, even though this is a second marriage for both, the rest of the family still are in mourning black.

Generation One: Chapter 2 - Bitter Freedom

Chapter 2 - Bitter Freedom

Grief and guilt entered my life hand in hand. The grief was monumental for my mother, less so for Father, with none remaining for Priscilla. The guilt though, that was for her. Guilt because I was relived I no longer had a loveless forever ahead of me.

The fire that killed them began in kitchens.  Priscilla was there reviewing the menu for the large party we would be holding to formally announce our betrothal. The initial explosion of flame caught Priscilla in its fiery grasp and she had no chance. Servants ran for the Master, who led the effort to put it out while Mother got as many servants out before she succumbed to the smoke. The fire which Father had tried to extinguish trapped him, and he too left this life for the next.

Generation One: Chapter 1 - The Gilded Cage

Chapter One – The Gilded Cage
It is universally acknowledged that a man who is engaged to be married must be in high anticipation of his wedding. It is well known fact that the young man must be counting the days and hours until the agonizing wait will be ended and he will be joined to his sweet and beloved bride.
These truths are not correct for me. I, Charles Darcy, do not love my fiancée. I do not wish to marry her, but I have no choice. I live in a lovely, richly decorated, no expense spared, home with my family and bride to be. It may be beautiful, but it is a cage, trapping me in expectations with no way out.

Introduction: The Darcy Legacy

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Grace, and I love books and in particular, Pride and Prejudice. With that in mind, I want to take on the legacy challenge. I am doing a modified novelcy, with the full 10 generations. The first generation will not be the handsome and beloved Fitzwilliam Darcy and the witty Elizabeth as I would if this were a true novelcy and continuing their story. Instead I will begin with what I imagine to be Darcy's ancestor, Charles Darcy. This legacy will follow the line of the House of Darcy from Charles to Fitzwilliam and beyond. It won't be a patriarchy, but I have the feeling most heirs will be male, though not required. It takes place roughly during the time period before and during what is known as the English Regency around the turn of the 19th century. All members will be dressed to reflect this, as will the writing style of the chapters.

The rules I will be using where they differ from the posted legacy rules:
  1. The Darcys will live on the typical legacy lot and never move. However, they will not start out on a bare lot with nothing. I have built the appropriate home for an ancient and rich genteel family.
  2. I will be using the family trait optional rule. The trait is Family Oriented.
  3. Sometimes for the story other familes besides the heir, spouse and offspring will be in the family house. I will age those babies up sooner to toddlers if necessary.
  4. Not all generations will marry townies. Most will, but a few such as Gen 10 Fitzwilliam have a set spouse (Elizabeth Bennet in this case) and so they will be CAS-made sims.
Other than that I plan to follow all the rules.

Without further ado, the legacy founder: Charles Darcy.

Enjoy!
